Quentin Tarantino pays homage to pop culture and blaxploitation films by making one of his own and a great one at that. Jackie Brown is QT’s only adaptation and it’s a terrific neo-noir heist thriller that plays out as a slow burner.
The ensemble cast is terrific. Pam Grier as Jackie Brown is one of the best casting decisions ever made. You have Samuel L Jackson as the baddest mo**erf**ker, Robert De Niro as a slow ex-con, Bridget Fonda as the hot junkie, Michael Keaton as the cop (a role he reprised in Soderbergh’s Out of Sight), and Robert Forster in an iconic role as bail bondsman.
The soundtrack is so thumping with all the roaring pop music, and the cinematography especially the really long front tracking shot in the mall is a huge cherry in the top. Loved it twice over than before.
Needed this after a week of mixed movies!!!
