This seemed like it was a ode to older film noir films, something you'd see in the earlier days of Hollywood. Deals with a writer kind of stuck on his latest book, but then he is pulled into a world of crime in which he uses for the book.
These types of movies never really work for me, as they are very slow moving, the mystery is never that wowing and they seem to be very talk heavy.
Forrest was quite good as the wise cracking lead, and Boyle was great as his pal that brought him into this mess.
Its well made and looks great, but it was a bit too slow moving for my tastes.
