This isn't just a gory horror film; it's an unforgivable, sadistic torture chamber reveling in the bloody, cringe-inducing deaths of some of the most moronic people to ever spend a rainy night in a remote cabin in the woods. The gore factor literally goes all the way to the end, with everything shown in excruciating detail, with admittedly impressive makeup and special effects.
It was a really fun, gruesome ride with a lot of practical effects instead of that stupid CGI stuff. I occasionally laughed and jumped. I gave it 3 1/2 stars because Fede Alvarez had the balls to remake this beloved franchise as his directorial debut. Obviously, it isn't for everyone, but it should be very satisfying to the horror fans it aims to please. Personally, it feels like both a faithful recreation and an original work.
