2020 confirmed that I’m really into a distressed, destroyed Americana vibe. Love it. The casual black holes of existence here, stories that will never be represented in popular imagery but are literally everywhere in each state.
Somehow, we are all probably only degrees away in separation from fucked up history or stories that could go this way. The upside down American dream and the generational trauma of a country. Even with something like wellness trending, there are lifestyles that will never be in the canon of “cool” or portrayed as an ideal no matter how much of a non-minority they are.
i was truly not prepared for how absolutely WILD this is let me tell you!!!!
Not a bad crime drama thriller but it doesn't do enough to be great. Jack Dylan Grazer and Fionn Whitehead star as Joey and Matt, two young brothers who steal a large amount of cash from an elderly’s home to help their sick mom as a security guard, played by Rainn Wilson, chases them through the forest and falls an abandoned well. Acting was decent. It chronicles Joey’s life with his family while dealing with the situation with the security guard. I hated the brother, he’s a jerk and blatantly abusive. We get a little bit of dark humor with Wilson's character that doesn't fit. But mainly it is uneasy, chaotic, and does pull us into the mess. The film takes a hard turn with the story I didn't see coming but then wraps up nicely at the end which was underwhelming. Overall, it’s an average watch.
i just know fionn whitehead and jack dylan grazer smoked blunts together in their trailer while shooting this
Bad things happen to weak people
A security officer falls down a hidden well but getting out relies on two brothers who’d rather have him stay put.
A coming of age thriller with a little dark humor and a few excellent twists throughout. I was surprised it felt even a bit mean spirited at times which I didn’t expect. Definitely enjoyed this one and it’s quick at 83 minutes... layered with family drama & I think a subtle environmental element .. fits in with stuff like super dark times & other dark coming of age tales ..
