  Man I really miss Russell he planted two Easter that lead to two different seasons in one Christmas special Easter egg one Saxon east egg two Donna can’t remember any of the aliens attacks that had happened before he had the best mind for doctor who and I’m so sad he left.
  This Christmas special is amazing for both those reasons alone.

  Like so many of the Doctor Who Christmas specials the actual central plot isn't as good as the smaller more intimate parts of the story.

  The Runaway Bride introduces us to Donna Noble as played by Catherine Tate. At the time i thought it was a horrendous choice of actor for the role but how quickly my thoughts changed. Tate is superb. She has real screen chemistry with David Tennant, not sexual chemistry but a wonderful matey chemistry which ends up being really refreshing, especially in her full series of stories screened a couple of years later. Yes, Tate was that good they brought her back.

  My second watch I think?
  I've just been going through some of my favorite episodes of the show and for some reason chose to see this one again even though it's never really been a big favorite of mine. I hadn't seen this in years but I remember that it struck me as weird at the time, and it still kind of does. I do like it quite a lot though because it explores essential dimensions of the show, plus that last scene makes me cry.
