I'd rate a lot of Jim Carrey's comedies 3 1/2 but that doesn't mean I don't find them VERY enjoyable. I really enjoy most of these including this one but they don't feel like 4 star material personally. This is a very rewatchable comedy as are most jim carrey's movies.
Tom Shaydyac's "Bruce Almighty" provides everything one might assume a studio comedy featuring Jim Carrey as a man who gains the powers of God would provide. There is the typical studio gloss, Carrey charisma/craziness, and lessons about using the power of good for good. Thankfully, it is all pretty funny and makes for an enjoyable comedy.
After being passed over for a promotion at a TV news station, Carrey's Bruce goes into an angry tirade where he curses the creator in wrathful tailspin. This premise leads to God, played by the brilliantly cast Morgan Freeman, granting Bruce heavenly powers.
