First of all, the performances were incredible. Tobey Maguire, Natalie Portman and Jake Gyllenhaal all put down incredible performances. Top tier acting.
The story is good. The movie does a great job at potraying what is going on in Sam's mind. It's messed up, but you can understand his character. That's the same with Grace. Her husband is dead, she can't put that loss somewhere. She keeps mourning and then she makes a mistake and kisses her dead husband's brother. But can you blame Tommy? Nope. In short, very well written movie.
