  BLADE goes insanely hard, aside from dated CG it still holds up pretty well. Such a fun, stylish and over-the-top movie with action sequences that go from badass to downright crazy in scope, it's so gloriously 90's!!! That opening club scene where blood rains from the ceiling is one of the coolest scenes in comic book movie.
  Wesley Snipes absolutely owns this character. He talks like a superhero, moves like a superhero and fights like a superhero. It's hard to imagine anyone more perfectly suited to play this character than him.

  It’s nice knowing there’ll never be a cooler superhero moment than Blade smoothly decapitating a vampire and catching his shades in mid-air while some thumping techno music starts playing. Also it’s snowing in the final scene so this is basically a Christmas movie.

  "Whoa, is that Blade? Blade is friggin' cool."

  Cannot believe I hadn't seen this before now. Such a relentlessly cool movie that starts with a fucking bang, with absolutely no pretense of needing you to understand who Blade is or "get on his side" or whatever. And thank god– origin stories are boring! I'm perfectly fine to get on your hero's side just because he looks cool as shit!

  Not super interested in comparing this to a modern Marvel movie because a) boring boring boring, sick of taking a stance on the MCU in all tangentially-related media, like a political compass b) impossible to do without also discussing the drastically different environments for making entertainment in 2022 and 1998.   absolutely obsessed with the way this movie will cut the score, the camera will push in, and Wesley Snipes will deliver a line like "some motherfuckers are always trying to ice skate uphill" as if that a) contextually makes sense or b) is a devastating zinger, and yet the movie's conviction is so absolute that it's somehow both.
