It started differently than most Nicholas Sparks set ups, with 90s teens listening to grunge and up to no good. Then the romance slowly blossoms and it has this sweet teen romance feel.
But then 1 hour in, I felt like I'd watched for 2 already. Nothing really happens and then she's dying and the film dies of predictability. He makes grand gestures of love, all the mean people turn nice, she looks pale, but still pretty, he falls asleep at her bedside and then she's fine and he's a better person.
I like The Notebook and Desr John, so it's not that I'm anti-Sparks or formulaic romances, but this is just too thin on plot. I got bored. Mawkish, but it's not terrible.
