Fun, average picture. Horse racing has a main subject is always a weird choice in my opinion. Barbara Stanwyck and Gene Raymond are a good, not great, pairing. Nothing like what she does with a Robert Taylor or a Fred MacMurray. Genevieve Tobin was notorious and Claude Gillingwater as Grandpa Wyatt was sweet.

Spectacular gaslit drama. I wasn’t expecting a thriller during the first couple of scenes. The inciting incident was surprise and refreshing. Some scenes had me on the edge of my seat and ready applaud.
That being said, the ending was a major disappointment and definitely knocked this film down half a star.
