This is my favorite Elm Street and am curious if everyone else list this as their favorite because it was the first entry into the series. It seemed like the least frightening rental for getting into the R-rated infamous franchise for me as a kid because the title gave me hope that you could bring down the demonic Krueger. Similarly the box art for the Puppet Master series scared the hell out of me after seeing Child's Play but part 4's tagline "When Bad Puppets Turn Good" help to govern my imagination (you know how as a kid your mind creates all kinds of horrific scenarios based on box art. *sorry to all you younger folks who missed the boat).
Anyways this movie rocks. It has some of the greatest in camera stuff (awesome stop-motion), bitchin' tunes, and some of the greatest one liners: " In the name of Lowrek, Prince of Elves... demon, begone". That made me and my brother laugh so hard as kids. Another of my favorite franchises growing up was The Matrix and seeing Fishburne was cool the first time I watched it.
