Fares Al-Naber’s review published on Letterboxd:
I'm saying I - I'm an insect who dreamt he was a man and loved it. But now the dream is over, and the insect is awake.
Disgusting, heartbreaking but surly brilliant.
Now of course I've seen this before many times while I was a little boy, and always been impressed by the building and the steady sequencing the film offers. The way it progresses gradually from the first scene to the last is remarkable. Without that careful full of detail progress, the film wouldn't work as well. Really fantastic writing.
Jeff Goldblum is such a perfect cast. You can feel his work even without actually seeing him sometimes. The little twitches and the quirky delivery added so much coloring to the character/characters that reinforced the ending with so much heart underneath all that gore and action.
It was fun to revisit this after all that time and I actually was surprised because it holds up pretty good!
