    Talking Head

On my first watch couldn’t quite tell how to feel about the ending.

On rewatch I love everything and think the ending is perfect.

Bumping up half a star. This is definitely my favorite  live action Oshii

  • Pig

    Pretty disappointing

Alex Wolff is always great tho

  • Avalon

Wasn’t really into it at first.
Was worried this would be the first Oshii I didn’t like.

Then the third act happened and I loved it.

Feels like a spiritual sequel to Beautiful Dreamer, which is pretty insane to me.

    Urusei Yatsura 2: Beautiful Dreamer

There’s some really beautiful moments in here.

Some of Oshii’s best sequences and this was his first big writer/director project.

    Truly amazing.

A real comfort film for me.

  • Cats

For my 10th watch I showed Ed.

She didn’t understand anything and I only had so many answers

I feel like I’ve been pretty conservative with rating Oshii’s stuff because they’re a lot to take in and it normally takes me a few days to really process.

That being said, this is fantastic.

So strange I couldn’t help but smile the entire time.

I highly recommend pairing with his Gosenzo-sama Banbanzai!

  • House

Bumping up to 5 stars cause damn this is so much fun to rewatch.

  • The Sparks Brothers

    The Sparks Brothers

Three and a half stars for the extremely entertaining documentary.

Half a star for Sparks being my new favorite band.

    Honestly wish this was longer
I had a blast watching this

  • Dallos

Wild how many ideas set up here Oshii came back to.

Was originally gonna score this lower but was quite moved by the last 10 minutes.

A lot of good stuff here.

  • School of Rock

    School of Rock

    This was fine. It’s fine.

    Not my thing.

    Love Joan Cusack tho

  • Urusei Yatsura: Only You

    Urusei Yatsura: Only You

Plays out like a long episode.

But one of the better episodes, and it’s absolutely gorgeous and weird.

I kinda like to pretend this is the first half of the end, with Beautiful Dreamer being the finale.

  • Saboteur

Weird Hitchcock claimed to be apolitical.
