1980s Canadian neo-noir, close to farce but with the occasional cruel edge. A dopey cabdriver is on a quest through the midnight streets when he becomes wrapped up with a woman on the run from possible snuff film producers. I’m not sure if it is the Toronto Blue Velvet it claims to be, but the candy-coloured clown they call the sandman can be Tim Horton if you want it to be.

The Client 1994
Powerful Sunday night free-to-air Australian TV movie. Everyone in this film is competing to see who can abuse the little kid the most.

ChickenHawk 1994
What most struck me about the men interviewed in this documentary was their banality, the incredible amount of self-pity and the complete insidiousness of their predatation. Under an hour is about enough.

Sexy Beast 2000
Could watch Ben Kingsley and Ray Winstone yell abusively at each other for about 10 hours
