Jesse Snoddon’s review published on Letterboxd:
Possibly my least favourite Indiana Jones movie (and yes, I have seen Crystal Skull - and, at the risk of inspiring rage I'm even a defender of it...to a point), but it's still an Indiana Jones movie so it's still a very fun watch. The bar is set high with a stunning opening sequence in a club that opens with an incredibly fun rendition of Anything Goes. From here it sprawls into table flipping fisticuffs, a close quarter firefight, and a high tension car chase. It's such a great action set piece that there isn't much of anywhere to go but down from it. This entry into the franchise is a little less focused than the others narratively but still has a good sense of momentum. Some of the depictions of other cultures are pretty rough here and Indy seems a little more incompetent in some situations than expected.
Overall though it's still a hell of a fun time at the movies - it simply can't compare to the absolute masterworks of Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade.
