Esther Rosenfield’s review published on Letterboxd:
People hate this movie because Luthor is Snyder's mouthpiece instead of either protagonist. Remember how the great victory of 300 was the Spartans proving that even a god could bleed? He even recycles the specific injury.
The problem is that the heroes have no counter-argument, but the film rolls along as though they do. "Men are still good," Wayne tells us at the end. If you say so, dude.
It's fine. The action is sufficiently thrilling (especially compared to the Civil War trailer that played before this, which showed its heroes facing off outside a goddamn airport in broad daylight), especially once Wonder Woman shows up properly. Glad that the film dispensed with any cutesy "but she's a girl!" routine, by the way. Fingers crossed that her feature will be so restrained. I can't believe I just called this movie "restrained."
