Really nice film. You’d think that Groundhog Day Time Loop films would be super formulaic but both this and Boss Level, which I saw recently, find their own ways of doing it. This one is much more lighthearted, with plenty of small but nice awe inspiring moments and a very mature storyline about not learning when to let go of something. (Gee, maybe that’s what the loop is a metaphor for???)

The title makes it sound like it’s gonna be some outer space slasher but instead it’s… Actually, I don’t know what it’s about. It’s certainly fitting for my “Strange Films” watchlist and I certainly didn’t know what was going on… But that was more because I just found it dull and my attention drifted pretty quickly. A good film bu not for me.
Melancholia? More like Meh-lancholia. The typical Lars von Trier trip to show us how unpleasant and miserable the world really is. He even gets so fed up with it this time that he blows it up!
I liked how it was filmed and it’s well acted but good lord, everyone in this is so unpleasant. By the end I was wishing the planet would just hurry up and collide already.
As an aside, if you want an impending doom film…
Really cool vengeance film. Very well made and acted by everyone too, although Meiko Kaji dominates every scene she’s in, as she should. I can’t remember if I put this on my watchlist after watching Kill Bill or not but the influences this had are pretty obvious. Lady Snowblood is better though I think.
