Wish I hadn’t seen the remake of this first. Probably as brilliant for its time as Get Out was in 2017. Don’t watch the remake first.

Phil Hartman and Norm Macdonald were my favorite SNL stars. Phil was an artist at performance, and Norm I can perhaps only describe as an anti-artist. Norm used jokes for many of the same reasons I like jokes, to be as extreme as possible and to troll. It was almost as if to say "why use jokes for soft reasons?" It's for that reason every Norm joke has any audience at full attention. It's also very amusing how problematic he's…

Great time, this had to have killed at the cinema. For me this is top 3 Clint so far but I must watch more. I adore how much he despises assholes here and throughout his other films that I've seen.

People in The Mule ranked by how much Clint (the filmmaker) seems to respect them:

    1. Clint himself: The only competent man in an incompetent world, his only flaw is that he spent too much time trying to provide for…

My second watch of this, hadn't seen since it came out.

My first impression of this was probably influenced by nearly a decade of Bush/Cheney fatigue (though this has more to do with Blair), and perhaps some basic Clinton-spoliation as well, which caused me to think this was merely a good movie but also a little tired. With more distance in time from the 2000s I now think this is a classically well made movie that leads the audience through…

How I've decided to rate this:

1 star for each orifice of the human body that things came out of.
1/2 for the Will the Farter cameo (more Wack Packers should be in movies.)

Now if you'll excuse me, I've hit my limit on Schnitzengruben (13) and have to repair the rest of my day that this ruined.

"I think there are some people who just aren't meant to do drugs."

Relaxed and mellow comedy when compared to Silicon Valley, and much better put together than Idiocracy. I think most people must be confusing low key with mediocre in their scores for this. The cast is pitch perfect, nailing all kinds of different Texan energy. Affleck is better here than I've ever seen him. Gene Simmons almost steals it all.

Mike Judge's The Big Lebowski? I think so.

Has to be one of the most amazing docs to exist. Truly gets under the skin, especially that Leyland Stevenson guy. This shouldn’t be viewed by anyone who becomes triggered by frank discussions of maybe the worst things anyone could ever hear, but should be viewed by anyone who has an interest in psychology and sexuality, and also cops or just anyone who wants to see what a pedophile looks and sounds like. There’s also enough here to warn people…

It shocks me when Batman and Robin people don’t like this. This is if Batman and Robin had ACTUAL PACING. There’s a lot of goofing off here too, don’t worry, for those who need their camp.

I really shouldn’t like this if only for Joel Schumacher, Akiva Goldsman and Eliot Goldenthal, all of whom I’ve never liked otherwise. They did this right though.

Also this is one of the rare 90s movies that benefits from the HD treatment. The CGI…
