I wasn’t crazy about it! I did really love The Lighthouse.
I expected this to be weirder! I felt like the very linear story telling kind of undercut any narrative weirdness. Not even in a trippy way, just any ambiguity/tension got immediately solved, even with things as signaling as music cues, or as explicit as lines spoken by characters. I just was mostly very bored.
There is a reason the greatest iteration of this story starts in the middle of things and also mainly focused on interior thoughts.
errant thoughts: Claus Bang hot and “Hamlet didn’t say that. That Polonius guy did.”
