À mon âge je me cache encore pour fumer is a feminist film that is a must-see for all women. Its powerful themes of the strive for independence and the trapping life Algeria women experience from even the youngest of ages, provide detailed insight into a life that is so unimaginable for most women. The structure of the film, all revolving around one day, allows for the audience to put in perspective the insides and out of these women's lives and feel their pain in unexplainable ways. My favorite part about the film is the opening scene. The narration from Samia is just enough to get us hooked (and provides an even more emotional end hearing her repeat the opening lines in the past tense) and the scene where we are introduced to Fatima gives us her simple yet deep background that allows us to follow her motives for the duration of the movie. Overall, this film had me feeling almost every emotion but I would 100% recommend it to someone else.
