Pig ★★★

All I knew was Nick Cage is looking for revenge on behalf of his missing pig. And with that, I was in. Although, I expected a little more action with this one. Do not expect a John Wick vibe. This is a subdued arthouse film that is a meditation on loss. Themes of authenticity and conviction are explored as well. Overall, an overwhelming focus on atmosphere leaves much to be desired with this one. The pig is cute. The cinematography is gorgeous. Cage is a subtle and tempestuous force. And Alex Wolff is the remaining champion of the defeated son archetype.
