Elliott’s review published on Letterboxd:
It could be argued that Chantal Akerman’s News from Home is cinema in its purest form. All of the dramatic and thematic weight of the film is brought to the fore via audio-visual association as Akerman once again astounds in her ability to convey the human condition so deftly. The film is shot in a typically minimal way with little in terms of visual shorthand or metaphor but the sound design and the gorgeous, enfolding shots of New York submerge the viewer in the isolation that living in a bustling, metropolitan city can bring. Simply put, another masterpiece.
