Judas and the Black Messiah

Judas and the Black Messiah ★★★★½

i am speechless.
daniel kaluuya is a tour de force here. he steals every scene he's in and delivers a captivating, tragic performance that will not be forgotten. seriously, i have a gut feeling it will go down as one of the best performances of the 2020's. lakeith stanfield has proved time and time again he's one of the most versatile actors we have right now, and i really hope he also receives some awards season love.
this blows "the trial of the chicago seven" right out of the water. now, i love a good sorkin drama, do not get me wrong. but, this feels like a more cohesive, impactful story. it will undoubtedly rack up a lot of comparisons to "trial", and while i enjoyed "trial", this is probably the better film.
shaka king's directing style is great and the cinematography was great. i see this definitely racking up a few oscar noms.
