Drive My Car 2021
my therapist likes to stop me whenever i criticize myself with the word ‘should,' that i should feel some way, that i should have done something. we stop and dig into this statement until i get to the root of it and try to understand how i've internalized whatever idea or feeling or action is meant to be "correct" or "normal." it's a hard thing for me to do because it's always easiest to lightly lean on myself as the…

C'mon C'mon 2021
one day I’ll see him again. I’ll hold his tiny, stupid, cute little face. I don’t know if he’ll remember me, if he’ll be little anymore, if he’ll be disappointed in the things I’ve done or even call me his sister.
all I know is that I’ll hold him and remind him of everything.
thank you as always, mike mills. you beautiful bastard.

tick, tick...BOOM! 2021
It was fine! Appreciated the sentiment that as an artist the first thing you make isn’t always going to be your best. Andrew Garfield was really wonderful though, as was the rest of the cast.

Wonder Woman 1984 2020
when they said wonder woman 1984 i thought they meant like neon colors and synths but they meant all the horrifying, reagan era geopolitics and middle eastern stereotypes. doesn't help that it also looks like shit and has no sense of character or pace, it can't even successfully recreate the clean action or lead chemistry that the first film had let alone attach them to some sort of story, the whole thing just bizarrely lumbers to its 5 minutes of…

Barbara Minerva: I used to be a nerd who nobody liked but now I am hot and bulletproof and can pull off Robert Smith-levels of eyeliner.
Maxwell Lord: but don’t you want *more*?
Barbara Minerva: i want… to be cat.

The Broken Hearts Gallery 2020
Wasn't too crazy on this at the start but it got better as it went along and won me over by the end. Follows the romantic comedy formula but it's still funny and charming with leads who share great chemistry. It's a really good date movie.

The Broken Hearts Gallery 2020
God, I have never been so represented in cinema more than Philippa Soo being so nervous and disgusted just by thinking of heterosexual sex. This film really is about the struggles people face after a break-up and it showed how destructive or creative you can be after ending a relationship. The plot is your typical rom-com one, but this genre has a special place in my heart, so my ratings are probably skewed higher than it should be. Also, Lucy is…
