Elvis ★★★

Everything you can expect from a flashy Baz Luhrman film, and it’s easy to have (many) reservations about it for that reason. But Austin Butler becomes the King in a way that other impersonators have not been able to; he was truly incredible. If only it wasn’t such a shallow, frantic rush of a film — although it’s probably more in line with the life Elvis lived that way. Good, simple fun, but not of much depth or substance.
