The film follows Mirabel (Voiced by Stephanie Beatriz), the only member of her large family to not have magical powers, as tries to save her families' gift before it is too late.

Encanto is a delightful, well-paced film that deals with themes of acceptance and expectations in a really thoughtful way. The story might be a little predictable but the whole execution of it, especially in regards to Mirabel's arc, is excellent. It could have presented some of the conflict such as Bruno's (John Leguizamo) estrangement from the family in a clearer way as that felt very rushed through. The ending is sweet and delivers a satisfying conclusion to the story.

The whole voice cast are excellent in their roles but Stephanie Beatriz is the standout as Mirabel. Visually this film is stunning with all the little details of the magical powers being a highlight. Lin Manuel-Miranda's songs are also fantastic and hit the emotional beats of the story perfectly.

Final thought: A really nice surprise of a film with gorgeous animation and a lovely message.
