ruth’s review published on Letterboxd:
it is a m a z i n g. in every sense of the word. i mean, 1970s rdj and gyllenhaal and ruffalo? the soundtrack - velvet underground, janis ian, america, marvin gaye, roberta flack? the montage, the editing? the CAST? (too much men, that's true, but they're all terrific). gyllenhaal is so good at acting as an awkward guy, he and RDJ both are chameleons. fincher picked quite the very best for this movie.
perfect, perfect, perfect. has become a comfort movie.
such amazingly built suspense and very good pacing.
such a captivating detective movie, it's just amazing.
minus half a star for sort of sick colours.
