Elliott Folds’s review published on Letterboxd:
I think I'd seen the preview for the American dub of Kiki's Delivery Service upwards of a thousand times growing up. It was definitely on a Disney VHS that I ran into the ground, though God knows which one it was. I thought this was really, really delightful, with such a smart script and colorful character and setting design. Joe Hisaishi turns in a gem, as always. Kiki must be one of the most endearing Ghibli protagonists -- her journey from innocence to disillusionment to rediscovering a reason for being is both compelling and moving. It may not be top-tier Miyazaki, but even mid-tier from him is better than a lot of people's best.
