A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master

A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master ★★★½

Hooptober #5: A Screaming Mad George film

Not quite as good as Dream Warriors, but gets pretty close. Pretty much all of the kills are pretty great, the last one being especially gruesome and reminiscent of a favourite horror of mine. Just like in Dream Warriors the characters are definitely the best part for me, it's been a while since I've seen it so I didn't really mind Kristen's recasting. They may all be massive stereotypes, but I love all the new characters to. Elm Street at this point has such a gloriously cheesy vibe that they really work. I also definitely prefer Elm Street movies where the kids have a way to fight back against Freddy too, he's so powerful that there's still an element of danger to it but you can still do some cool stuff with that. Reminds me of IT in that way.
