Disappointed that this isn’t a movie about the fish bait industry.

This whole time they’re trying to figure out what happened to the girls and I’m just over here wondering what happened to Paul Dano’s dog.

    Previous Review: Barravento

The Nautu Nautu dance battle sequence is genuinely one of the best scenes in the history of cinema. Never have I ever wanted to bust a move more than when I see these guys do some macabre lawnmowers and some real ass Chaplin-shit. This is what TikTok wishes it could be.

Funny how Watergate seems tame now when compared to the shit that goes on in Washington today.

    Previous Review: Faces Places

I’ve grown an admiration for dumb blockbusters that throw everything at the wall and manage to make some of it stick. Lots of cool ideas and imagery that I wasn’t expecting a Marvel film to attempt. Now, as for whether I respect Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness… uh, well, I admire its trying.

    Previous Review: Kiss me, Stupid

Tsui Hark's first feature transforms the often repetitive wuxia genre into a refreshing noir film, while using effective costuming, scripting, and pacing to keep characters and its relatively confusing plot manageable and gripping. It's not like anything else I've seen in the genre and it makes me appreciate how defined Hark's understanding of film is. Guy's a visionary, but maybe a little too into leather.

Some of those magnetic, beautiful scenes, intricately foreshadowed and entirely well-paced, that make you want to stare into space for a long time.
