The great thing about this film is what doesn't come out, everything that happens in the mansion, there is such a deep symbolism, the usual in an obsessive like Kubrick, that without approaching it is almost impossible to understand anything. What is shown there, and what really underlies it, a terrifying truth, is what makes this film so great. And the key is in the conversation that Ziegler has with Cruise in the library.
