underwhelming. I think the idea of "enhancing" a preexisting work with creative ideas only possible by technology that did not previously exist is a promising one - and the ideology and aesthetics of ghost in the shell feel particularly suited for this for this sort of concept - especially when taking into account the, at the time, current state of the greater ghost in the shell franchise and how it had evolved since the original film's release.
