After seeing chandramukhi2 (CM2) and the clownery of Raghava Lawrence esp in the flashback, you realise how much a charismatic actor like Rajini is able to elevate a film with the gravitas he lends to the role. Superstar🔥👏CM2 is a torturous affair with a story very reminiscent of the first one but with shitty music, cinematography and DI which gives the film serial vibes, editing which does not allow any scene to linger to create tension and surpisingly really bad…

Holy Spider 2022
The opening 5 minutes of Holy Spider covers a prostitute's sombre daily life. She is traumatized and ill treated by her customers and at least ends up getting killed by one. That customer is the serial killer on whom the movie is based upon. The killing is captured very realistically. Its brutal and the whole five minutes is clearly intended for us to sympathize with the prostitutes. This distinction is very important due to the dichotomous nature of the people…

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One 2023
Mission Impossible7 is a delightful mix of action, thrills, twists and most importantly Tom Cruise running-lots and lots of running.
The familiar trope of technology turning rogue is not tiring ,thanks to the fast and refreshing screenplay.Go for it !

Viduthalai: Part I 2023
ViduthalaiPart1 is a decent film from vetrimaran but is not as hard-hitting as it aims to be! The film white washes naxalism by showcasing every action of them as either retribution or inadvertence.
The film , set in 1987 and delineates the conflicts between the naxal group Makkal Padai headed by Vijay Sethupathi (in a spectacular cameo) and the police dept and how Soori evolves in this chaotic environment. The arc of Soori ,his dilemmas on who is right, his…

John Wick: Chapter 4 2023
A breathtaking violent orgy that betters its predecessor on multiple levels with exhilarating action set pieces culminating in a stunning climax. Stahelski and team serve some of the best action sequences since Fury Road on a platter.Bon Appetit!
Johnwick4 full review:
Johnwick series has what I would call as videogamesque violence. The fourth part continues the tradition. It's ridiculously over the top, but so much fun. Though the bullets always miss the film's darlings as expected, the fight scenes are…

Psycho 1960
While watching Psycho ,you cannot do anything but marvel as you recollect how many films were inspired by it. It was so ahead of its time! i felt the movie was slow at the start but since Janet Leigh's death during the iconic shower scene ,it picks up ,culminating in a stunning climax. Hitchcock's use of silence interspersed with violins highly elevates the mood. John L Russell's cinematography comprising many single shots and closeups effectively transports us to that world…

Sully 2016
Sully 2016, unlike the actual event, flies high.
Solid direction by the legendary Clint Eastwood and measured acting by all the cast headed by Tom Hanks propel this movie to great heights. Despite the obvious "Hollywodisation", Sully captures the events of Jan 15 very well.
The final 20 mins is just perfect and you walk out with a huge respect for Captain Sully Sullenberger and all the other cast and crew for pulling of the almost impossible.
Great watch !

MH370: The Plane That Disappeared 2023
The MH370 documentary on @netflix focuses more on the battle between conspiracy theorists rather than the battle to find out the truth. It dedicated more time to conspiracy bullshit, less time to actual investigation. It devotes more time to conspiracy theorists rather than actual investigators .
It did not cover anything abt the call made by a guy from the plane to his daughter! It did not go in detail abt the woman who found the debris via satellite images.

Iratta 2023
A routine ,albeit neatly written police procedural is greatly elevated by a stunning climax. Joju George is great in both the roles and singlehandedly carries the movie amidst unconvincing supporting actors. The climax is a punch in the gut. You will carry the pain for atleast quite sometime after the credits roll.
