Mr. McCleery: I want you outta here.
Mr. McCleery: Because I don't like you."
Crossing this one off my "list of shame" right before it leaves Netflix. I know I've seen bits and pieces of it on TV over the years, but never sat down and watched it in full until tonight.
Benjamin Braddock is a very confused young man and a thoroughly unlikable protagonist. He's a bum, a creep, a stalker.
Ben isn't supposed to be a hero. He's just a bored guy doing dumb and irresponsible stuff to stave off boredom. And my God, I shudder to think that I actually identify (and even sympathize) with him on some level.
That being said, what else can you say about this classic. I dig the late 60's zeitgeist and the "Simon and Garfunkel" soundtrack. And I need to watch some more Mike Nichols movies.
