Bullet Train

Bullet Train ★★★½

The trailers for this movie gave all the best parts away.

The cast as a whole bring goofball panache to proceedings, their delivery making up for the lameness of much of the script. There are points at which the movie overstays its welcome, but the journey remains an entertaining ride nonetheless.

The movie deserves extra props for making Aaron Taylor-Johnson an appealing on-screen presence who actually holds our interest up until the Bullet Train goes off the CGI rails. It reminds us that Pitt is a wildly underused comedic force.

Despite its issues and the overall derivative nature of the material, I enjoyed the ride. It’s pure escapism at its finest.
