This is too surface level and too cringe to be as good as the talent involved. Disappointing

I think this film gets better on every rewatch. Truly a well constructed film!
Maybe this is a completely wrong theory but I think The Protagonist actually dies at the beginning. But they pull a Temporal Pincer Movement that changed what happens to him.
It's strange because it's clearly trying to distance itself from the Peter Jackson films. But then shoots in the same location, has a theme composed by Howard Shore and uses the same visual language as the Jackson films. It just made me want to watch the films instead
