Richard Doyle’s review published on Letterboxd:
At the end of the Vietnam War, wacky scientist John Goodman takes a bunch of soldiers lead by Samuel L. Jackson to an uncharted island to see what's what. Dashing adventurer Tom Hiddleston and photographer Brie Larson go with them to add much needed star power. They encounter a really really big gorilla and John C. Reilly. Of course Jackson is the real bad guy because he's in the military. I appreciated this film's wildly pulpy tone, but it's basically idiotic at heart and in multiple ways ... character's actions make no sense, the dialogue is terrible and the scientists have colour 3D computer graphic capability in 1973. I wanted to enjoy this more, but the stupid got in the way.
