For his hat trick Rob Eggers has delivered a blood soaked metal album of a viking revenge flick. An heir to Conan the Barbarian, but fabled the fuck up. Simple yet elegant. Brutal and beautiful and wild throughout. Sometimes very funny too. Slightly toned down period linguistics. Or at least not Lighthouse level. Perhaps a tad too long for what it is, but nonetheless a hell of an experience. Rob has got the sauce and I suspect could be looking at a rock solid hit with this one. Definitely an exciting movie future.
Also, I don't know if there's any IMAX screening of this, but if so it would probably be well worth it. This is the kind of movie that really makes me miss Cinerama.
