A film about two dudes who despite the odds became bros. The best bros the world had ever seen. So much so they fought a revolution and cracked bruv skull like it was going out of style. WHICH THESE BROS HAD BOATLOADS OF BY THE WAY. Indeed RRR is the rip roaring mind melting adventure I had heard. At 3 hours it's a lot. But goddamned if it wasn't a memorable experience.
It tends to be forgotten, but alot of The Twilight Zone wasn't necessary thrillers or horror. Many episodes were dramatic tales that had a line of the surreal, fantastical or absurd. Petite Maman is that. Constructed with intelligence and efficiency. Performed with a proper level of warmth and casual mystic. And really you can't beat a story like this working itself through as well as it does in only 72 minutes. Celine keeps on rollin'.
Gothic vibes down to a tee, under 90 minutes and you get Christopher Lee? Value for time AND money. Feels a little ahead of its time in some sense. The movie's queerness and all. Definitely worth going into the Halloween rotation.
