Ok this was better than I remember, thank goodness. Over the past year or so, my opinion of this movie started to fall, so I knew I had to rewatch it soon to make sure it was still good. Sorry Puss in Boots. You may have the better animation, but you will not be dethroning this as my favorite DreamWorks film. Although I don’t think How to Train Your Dragon is objectively bad by any means, my personal love for…
“I know I can never defeat you, Lobo. But I will never stop fighting for this life.”
When I first saw the trailer for this movie, I recognized the beauty in the animation, but I thought it was just going to be a garbage sequel to a spin-off. It didn’t help that it prominently featured the cat lady house like it was going to be the main plot. Turns out, that was only about 10 minutes of an absolutely incredible…
This one didn’t really click with me like the other Hitchcock films I’ve seen so far. I liked how it was all shot in one room and it attempts to appear as though it’s done in a single take, but every single cut is exactly the same, which gets predictable and repetitive over the runtime, breaking the illusion. The acting was ok and I didn’t think the plot was nearly as intense or intriguing as Dial M for Murder or Rear Window, likely because I didn’t care at all for the main characters. Not a bad film overall, but I’ve seen better from Hitchcock.
Brain-dead architecture project has me easily grinding out rewatches this week.
What a beautiful story! It drags a bit towards the middle, but everything else is perfect. Most of the songs are great (though like any musical, it has its fair share of duds), the characters are all charming and fun, and I love a good story about childhood.
Mary Poppins is the original gaslight gatekeep girlboss. She is completely unhinged in some scenes and it’s hilarious. My favorite has…
Really great and one of my favorite Disney movies, but I wish it took itself a bit more seriously. It is a war movie after all. I love Mushu and the cricket, but they get a bit too much screen time, and the whole romance subplot is a little weird when you think about it for a second. Those memes are more than jokes I swear.
Making my way through a bunch of my top 100 that I haven’t seen in a while, so I can be as “accurate” as possible when I rerank it. Expect an Avengers marathon extremely soon.
Just like with How to Train Your Dragon, I had been doubting my opinion of this over the past year or so, periodically lowering it in my top 100. And just like with HtTYD, I was reminded of just how amazing it is! The story…
