When I watch a Shaw Brothers movie I'm hoping for two things: a simple plot and frequent action. This delivers both - and much more! Rain. Mud. Atmosphere. Arterial sprays. Highly recommended.
I understand that some people will be turned off by the meandering plot, shaky camera and "mumbly" characters. It's not for everyone.
For me, though, this is the kind of warm, inventive American indie that's often overlooked because it doesn't attempt to make a grand statement.
