Matthew Roberts’s review published on Letterboxd:
Good fucking god this was brilliant, so minimal but still feeling so grand. Rashomon has some of the best looking camerawork and editing I've ever seen; especially in the duel between Tajomaru and the Samurai; anxiously pacing in circles looking right into the camera it is hard not to feel like you are there.
Tajomaru was brilliantly played and despite him being, y'know, a bandit and all; felt like a likeable character in his very real mannerisms and behaviour. Like the camera watching him it feels so real and fluid.
This has been my introduction to Kurosawa and I'm so glad it has.
