Owen Harradine’s review published on Letterboxd:
I was just a little intimidated at first by the run time but it flew by. I really didn’t want it to end. I haven’t felt this much with a movie in some time. Absolutely in awe of this film. An easy 10/10 although I’m not sure it will have that constant rewatch-ability due to its run time. However, that might make it more special in a way so you don’t get burnt out on it and watch it too much. I really don’t know what to say other than I absolutely fell in love with this. Everything from the performances, pacing, characters, casting, cinematography, set design, I could go on. It was top tier stuff with the characters possibly being the best thing about this. I have seen two pieces of Frank Darabonts work and I must see more. I’m not expecting it to be of the same standards as Shawshank and Green Mile, but I’m so intrigued to see other work of his.
This film is genuinely heart breaking. Fuck me.
