Edgar-Jones is terrific as Kya - though perhaps a little too clean of fingernail and complexion for a girl who has grown up alone in a cabin on the marsh? The photography is stunning and the narrative nicely structured to include as many of the twists and turns of the novel as two hours will allow, and yet...

...it’s all rather safe, even Sparks-lite, with its edges smoothed in a way that will surely please Aunty on a Sunday afternoon with a nice cup of tea and a chocolate digestive.

Pleasantly entertaining, quickly forgettable.
