Messy and gigantic, Eggers removing any restraint, for better or worse. It never quite gels together, but so much of it is genuinely breathtaking. His continued exploration of myth as the foundation of how we see ourselves continues to dazzle. I suspect, over time, its flaws will distract me less and I’ll fall more in love with it.
