Daniel’s review published on Letterboxd:
It is a Sam Raimi film first and foremost and this is all I could have asked for. With all the sincerity, humor, gnarly violence, horror and emotions that come with it. The film has a strong emotional core and treats the characters with the same love and care that made his Spider-Man films so timeless. I couldn't believe how far Raimi was allowed to go with the horror and violence that could be straight from Evil Dead in some sequences. No one is better at directing a comic-book film than Sam Raimi. He has such a love for the source material that translates to the screen. He believes in these characters and so do we. What a huge difference it makes to hire a real filmmaker who knows how to tell a story with camera placement and movement, music (THE MUSIC FIGHT) and precise editing. The scrip has some shortcomings but Doctor Strange 2 is an exciting, funny, bold and sometimes terrifying journey in the multiverse of madness.
