House of Wax

House of Wax ★★★½

The fraternal thematics may be the narrative center of the film, but its actual driving force lies in the melting implosion of its own slasher iconography - death is a museum, the preservation of an image is burnt flesh and restless eyes trapped in a static cage of wax. Such a spectacularly competent tonal and formal conduction of the slasher genre, this is so disquieting and violent while always remaining very creative and engaging (that final scene being particularly great).
