Justin’s review published on Letterboxd:
You’ve gotta give it up for Paul Verhoeven, surely on the short list of the greatest living filmmakers. There’s a lot to unpack here symbolically and allegorically if you’re the type that’s so inclined, which I’m not, but at the end of the day you have one hell of an entertaining film. Great cast, well-made, majestic score from Basil Poledoiluris, and never a lull for the duration of its runtime.
If you’re the type who approaches a film always needing to root for a lead whose heart and motivations are ultimately pure then you should probably stay away and try and grow up while you’re at it.
