Spongebob Narrator Voice: “3 hours later”

Damn what a movie. Akira Kurosawa’s influential epic is exactly that… EPIC! 

I tried watching it once before, but got discouraged by the somewhat daunting runtime. I thought about splitting it up at first, but this movie in my opinion isn’t meant to be watched like a TV show. It’s something you should watch all in one sitting to fully appreciate every one of its aspects. I’m glad I chose a Saturday night to watch it, because this is quite frankly an event. The memorable characters, the evocative black and white cinematography, the surprisingly smooth pacing, the distinct direction, and the masterfully written screenplay are all simply perfect as far as I’m concerned. There’s no doubt in my mind that this is not only one of the very best pieces of international cinema I’ve ever seen personally, but objectively one of the best movies of all time. Whether you’re a casual movie fan of a full blown cinephile, this is absolutely essential viewing.
