Words cannot do this film a service, however I'll try. Harmony Korine's post-apocalyptic film is experimental in structure and complex in understanding. That is, until, you realize it is Korine's twist on annoying small town, little plot, character driven films like What's Eating Gilbert Grape? Every stylistic choice in this film was the right choice and works to great advantage. If this was shot like Kids, then it wouldn't have been as interesting of a film. This is a true "love it or hate it" film and if you're one of the many, including me, who flocked to Korine's filmography after viewing Spring Breakers, this will not help change your mind if you did not like that film but offers a healthy substitute if you did.
